Katsina Center for Music- Red Rock State Park, Arizona
Set within the stunning landscape of Red Rock State Park, this ensemble of four music halls forms a modest yet significant campus for the performance of music across cultural traditions.

Each hall possesses a distinct architectural character, calibrated to support a particular sonic and spatial atmosphere.

The design draws on the legacy of Le Corbusier—not through literal quotation, but by interpreting his use of color, painting, and sculptural form as generative devices. In this way, the project positions itself at the intersection of modernist abstraction and site-specific responsiveness.

The tension between the monumental geology of the red sandstone formations and the comparatively delicate interventions of the halls is central to the architectural strategy. Rather than competing with the landscape, the buildings establish a dialogue between the cultural registers of human creativity—music, color, and form—and the deep time, embodied in the surrounding terrain.
