living among waves and rocks
A villa in Big Sur

This villa began with a question: how lightly can we touch such a powerful landscape?
Perched above the cliffs of Big Sur, the building stands between endurance and fragility — a structure meant not to dominate, but to belong.

Rammed earth concrete anchors the structure, while limitless glass opens it to the shifting light and endless sea. Every surface is shaped by the wind; every room belongs to the horizon.

This is not a house that seeks perfection. It’s an attempt to live in rhythm with one of the most extraordinary landscapes on earth.

Inside, the spaces are fluid and social — a series of moments rather than fixed compositions. People gather in the living area for quiet conversation, in the family room for relaxed energy, or around the kitchen for lively discussion. Each space encourages connection in its own way, flowing naturally from one to another, inviting life to move freely through the house.

When the fog rolls in, the villa almost disappears. When the sun breaks through, it becomes radiant — a quiet celebration of Big Sur’s constant change.
