Eir Vatna Lodge
Iceland
Nestled near one of Vatnajökull’s glacial fingers, Eir Vatna Lodge stands as an exclusive retreat within Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland’s vast wilderness where glaciers, volcanic landscapes, geothermal springs, and vibrant green valleys converge. The lodge takes its name from “Eir,” the Norse goddess of healing, and “Vatna,” a nod to the surrounding glacier, which covers about 8% of Iceland and is the largest in Europe.
Accessible solely by eVTOL, Eir Vatna Lodge is envisioned as an outpost of luxury and artistry, set against the raw beauty of Iceland’s untamed environment. It offers a unique experience that juxtaposes refined design with the primordial landscape. Here, guests can explore the wilderness while engaging with the contrasting yet harmonious expressions of human creativity.
The lodge has 44 rooms with a lounge and dining hall, positioned on a rocky outcrop just below the main building. Visitors enter through a plaza flanked by two museums that showcase a variety of curated art exhibits, connecting the experience of the lodge to Iceland’s vibrant creative spirit. Throughout the outdoor spaces, vitrines display both static and digital art, adding to a sensory engagement with nature.
Covering the hotel wing are expansive steel roofs, supporting a series of colorful, whimsical towers visible from afar. These vibrant structures serve as symbols of human ingenuity coexisting with the natural landscape—a delicate yet powerful testament to the creative spirit against the awe-inspiring Icelandic wilderness.
